Welcome to the Wheat Ridge High School Gifted and Talented Center Page!
We are a Gifted and Talented Center at the High School level, which is based on the Autonomous Learner Model. We work to improve our students' skills in autonomy, self-advocation skills, their passions, and social-emotional support. We are based at a school that has a full class load of AP and Honors options. Our center is designed to support students in these classes, or whichever types of classes they choose to be a part of; whether they're taking a full advanced class load, or need support in their day-to-day life, our students span many portions of what a high schooler can be.
If you are interested in applying to the center:
Students who are not currently in a GT Center must complete an application process prior to completing Enroll Jeffco. Testing data may be required if prior data is more than 2 years old.
We presented about GT at our school Choice Enrollment Night and talked about applying to the GT Center. If you would like to see the presentation that guides you through the application process, please click here!
Please contact Tonia Heffley at: Tonia.Heffley@jeffco.k12.co.us
to begin the application process, as well as asking any questions about applications.
If you would like to set up a shadowing day:
We would love to set up a shadowing day for your student! We will create a personalized schedule for your student that is tailored to the classes they would like to have if they attended our school. Shadowing days can be set up on Mondays on Tuesdays, and are available for full-day, half-day, or whatever your student would like to attend. Please fill out our Google Form to submit a shadowing request here: https://forms.gle/RTqB15m8BrunjN9s7. Then, please email Julie Bolding at Julie.Bolding@jeffco.k12.co.us to get some details about the shadowing day and set up all the details with our GT Center.
We also did a presentation at our school Showcase Night in the 2022-2023 school year on November 15th from 6-8. Please feel free to access our Google Slide presentation for some information about the GT Program, located here: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/15ln-tWx-YAKAx8nxJsftm1HHiEOIqsg6DL7Enx4fDsE/edit?usp=sharing

Ongoing Events:
For our families who want to get an idea of what our program does, we have a GT Night Spring Showcase every year, and we were back to a live, in-person event in the 2021-2022 schoolyear. However, before that in the 2020-2021 school year, when our program was still online, our students hosted our end of the year showcase night, called GT Night Online, and hosted all the booths on our GT Night website, the other portion happened live on Zoom. If you want to check out our program and see what kinds of projects our students create, you can access the GT Night website by clicking the underlined link above, or This Link!
